Union closed out its preseason Aug. 20 with a 27-7 victory over Mustang at the Stan Martin Gridiron Classic, the Redhawks' annual final tune-up before the regular season at Union-Tuttle Stadium.
Senior Reyon Williams powered the offense from his running back spot, rushing for two touchdowns to pace the hosts. Quarterback Dylan Taylor added two touchdown passes, giving Union four scores, two rushing and two passing, according to Tulsa World sports editor Barry Lewis.
Williams, who also starts at linebacker, showed the two-way versatility that second-year head coach Antonio Graham has built the program around. The senior's ability to impact both sides of the ball has been a focal point as Graham enters his second season leading the Redhawks.
The energy around Union's program has grown all offseason. Back in May, Graham described the shift in culture he's seen since taking over: "The energy in this building today is way, way better than a year ago."
Thursday's Classic capped a preseason that included a public intra-squad scrimmage on Aug. 15 at Union Stadium, where fans got their first look at the 2026 roster.
The Stan Martin Classic featured a full slate of action. Scrimmages began at 4 p.m., with the Owasso-Springdale Har-Ber mini-game kicking off at 6 p.m. and the Union-Mustang contest at 7 p.m., according to Union Public Schools.
Owasso made the most of its time on the field, shutting out Har-Ber 28-0 in the earlier game, according to the Tulsa World. The Rams open the regular season against defending Class 6AI champion Bixby on Aug. 28.
For Union, Williams and Taylor gave the coaching staff plenty to build on as the Redhawks prepare for their own regular-season opener.
