Owasso's offense and defense both made statements Aug. 20, as the Rams shut out Springdale Har-Ber 28-0 in the Stan Martin Gridiron Classic at Union High School.

Quarterback Drew Frankenfield threw three touchdown passes, and Cole Campbell returned an interception for a score to account for all four Owasso touchdowns in the preseason finale.

The performance sets up the regular-season opener Tulsa-area fans have been circling: Owasso at defending Class 6A-I champion Bixby on Aug. 28.

Bixby beat Owasso 31-17 in last year's state championship game to cap a perfect 13-0 season and claim its eighth consecutive 6A-I title. The Spartans, coached by Doug Hennigan, are chasing a ninth straight crown in 2026.

Tulsa World sports editor Barry Lewis reported the final on X shortly after the game, noting Frankenfield's three scores and Campbell's pick-6 as the decisive plays.

Owasso head coach Bill Blankenship has reason to feel confident about his roster's depth heading into the Bixby matchup. Transfer Kamieon Compton-Nero, ranked the No. 1 prospect in Oklahoma's 2028 class and a top-50 national recruit by 247 Sports, is set to play safety on defense and wide receiver on offense. Compton-Nero holds offers from OU, OSU, Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan and Arkansas after leading Rejoice Christian to back-to-back Class A state titles as a quarterback.

In a NewsOn6 profile published Aug. 19, Blankenship said of Compton-Nero's adjustment to 6A-I competition: "It was a little bit of a wake up call, but now he is competing at an even higher level."

Compton-Nero described his chemistry with Frankenfield in the same interview: "I just have to tell Drew to throw it up, and I'll go get it."

The Rams finished No. 201 in the High School Football America national rankings last season. Bixby checked in at No. 70.

That gap narrows Aug. 28, when Owasso opens the regular season at Bixby. Kickoff time has not been announced.
