Manna Air Delivery is opening two new drone delivery bases in east Tulsa.

The Ireland-based company announced that it will operate from The Shops at Alameda on South Sheridan Street and from Plaza Santa Cecilia at 2160 S. Garnett Road, KTUL reported. A third base near 31st Street and Garnett Road is expected to open within weeks.

Each base will house three delivery aircraft in a secure, fenced location, serving customers within one to two miles, according to La Semana del Sur.

"East Tulsa's thriving small business scene makes it the perfect next location for Manna to expand delivery services," Bobby Healy, Manna's founder and CEO, said in a statement.

Restaurants signed on for the east Tulsa launch include Sr Lucas, Baga Sushi and Cakes & Churros. Juan Carlos Barrios, founder and operator of Baga Sushi, said in a statement that the partnership brings new technology to local delivery. More restaurants, grocery stores and retailers are expected to join in the coming months.

Customers order through the Manna app and select a drop-off location. Manna says flights take about three minutes. Initial east Tulsa hours run Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., according to KTUL, before expanding to seven days a week.

Manna filed permit applications with the City of Tulsa on Aug. 25 for all three east Tulsa sites, the Tulsa Flyer reported. The third location sits in the parking lot east of Citi Trends at 11215 E. 31st St.

The expansion follows a separate partnership with the Tulsa Fire Department (TFD), announced in September. Under a free pilot program, the pilot is intended to deliver defibrillators and trauma kits to emergency scenes before fire engine crews arrive, KJRH reported.

TFD Capt. Conrad Collison said at a Sept. 23 presentation at Tulsa Tech that drones can reach someone in need before engine crews arrive. Manna is providing the service at no cost to the city.

Manna, founded in 2018, has completed nearly 380,000 deliveries worldwide, according to the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. The company expects to create more than 1,000 jobs in Tulsa over three years and hopes to open 20 to 30 drone bases across Tulsa and Broken Arrow, according to the Tulsa Flyer. A manufacturing hub in north Tulsa is also planned, with up to 100 jobs once operational.

The Cherry Street base launched Aug. 12 with partners including Andolini's Pizzeria, Paréa Coffee, Sapori and Firefly Brew. No specific opening date for the two new east Tulsa bases has been announced.
