Tulsa County residents have until Friday, Oct. 9, to register to vote or update their registration ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.

Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Gwen Freeman announced the deadline on Thursday, Sept. 24. "Friday, October 9, 2026, is the last day to apply for voter registration," Freeman said, according to the Tulsa Beacon. The ballot includes federal and state races, State Questions 845 and 847, a District 1 City Council runoff and a special hotel tax vote.

What's on the ballot

State Question 845 would restructure the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC), the body that screens applicants for Oklahoma's appellate courts, according to The Oklahoman. The measure would allow more members from the same political party and require new appointments by congressional district.

State Question 847 (SQ 847) targets property taxes. Under current law, real property valuations can rise up to 5% per year. SQ 847 would lower that cap to 4%, according to the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs. For homesteads, the current 3% annual cap would drop to 1.75%.

The District 1 City Council runoff pits incumbent Vanessa Hall-Harper against challenger Corinice Wilson after an Aug. 25 primary narrowed the field, according to the Black Chronicle.

Tulsa voters will also decide on a proposed increase in the city's hotel-motel guest tax from 5% to 9.9%. City leaders have estimated the increase would generate more than $20 million annually for capital upgrades to the BOK Center and Arvest Bank Convention Center, Fox 23 reported in July.

How to register

Registration applications must be received by the Tulsa County Election Board or postmarked by midnight on Oct. 9, according to the election board. Applications postmarked after that date will be accepted but not processed until after the election. Applications can also be submitted at any motor vehicle agency that serves as an official voter registration site.

Voters who have moved into Tulsa County from another county or state must file a new application. Those who moved within the county can update their address through the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp.

Forms are available at the Tulsa County Election Board, most post offices, tag agencies and public libraries. They can also be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections.

Key dates ahead

Early voting runs Wednesday, Oct. 28, through Friday, Oct. 30, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The absentee ballot request deadline is Monday, Oct. 19.

On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
