Horton Records, the all-volunteer Tulsa nonprofit that has spent 20 years recording and booking Oklahoma musicians, will throw its anniversary party Sept. 19, at VFW Post 577.
Hortonfest Redux brings four acts to the stage at 1109 East Sixth St.: Seth Lee Jones, Paul Benjaman, the Steepwater Band and Mike Mattison & Trash Magic.
Mattison has spent 22 years as a member of the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Derek Trucks Band, according to his booking agency Mint Talent Group. Doors open at 6 p.m., music starts at 7 p.m. and the show runs until 11 p.m.
The event is all ages. Advance tickets cost $20 plus fees through Eventbrite. Day-of tickets are $25 at the door. Admission includes gumbo, frybread hot dogs and Moon Pies while supplies last.
The festival was originally set for Jan. 23 but was postponed because of winter weather, TulsaPeople reported. Brian Horton, founder and president of Horton Records, said in a press release that the organization was thrilled to reschedule with a strong lineup and free food.
"There is no better way to celebrate 20 years of Horton Records than with a night of music with some of our favorite bands and the community we love," Horton said.
Since its founding, the organization has released more than 120 titles from Oklahoma artists and distributed over 150,000 CDs and albums worldwide. It books more than 100 shows a year on behalf of Oklahoma musicians, paying $50,000 directly to artists annually, according to TulsaPeople.
The label operates as a 501(c)(3) with no paid staff. Every position is volunteer.
Stanton Doyle, executive director of the Church Studio in Tulsa, said artists who debuted with Horton Records over the past two decades have become international ambassadors for Oklahoma music. He pointed to musicians Jesse Aycock and Carter Sampson as examples.
Jones and the Paul Benjaman Band are among the Tulsa-rooted acts associated with Horton Records, according to the Church Studio.
