Hispanic Heritage Month begins Sept. 15 across the Tulsa area with dozens of free events running through Oct. 15. Parades, dance performances, book clubs and immigration workshops fill the calendar in Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Jenks and Owasso.

One of the first events is a Know Your Rights: Immigration and Language Access Workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 15 at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, 2720 S. 129th E. Ave., according to the Tulsa Flyer. The workshop will feature local advocates and language access resources for immigrants and refugees.

The Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) system is expanding its programming this year. Stephanie Rodriguez, the Hispanic Resource Center coordinator for TCCL, told KJRH on Sept. 14 that bilingual story times are reaching new branch locations for the first time. The Hispanic Resource Center, founded in 1999 and housed at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road, is coordinating the library events, according to a TCCL press release.

"We want to keep both the culture and the language," Rodriguez said in the interview. "I feel like people might not include language as part of the culture, but it is."

Friday, Sept. 18 is packed. The Mayor's Office and Downtown Tulsa Partnership host the third annual 918 Day Festival from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chapman Green, 600 S. Main St. The free event features performances by Keila Jael and Marlee Vox, cultural dance groups and food vendors, according to TulsaPeople.

That same evening, Kendall-Whittier Library, 21 S. Lewis Ave., hosts a Noche Festival with piñatas and mariachi music from 7 to 9 p.m. The University of Tulsa's Latin American Student Association holds its Festival de Las Flores from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Lorton Performance Center, 550 S. Gary Place. Tulsa Botanic Garden offers free admission Sept. 18 through Sept. 20.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Tulsa Global District hosts La Fiesta de Tulsa, East Tulsa's annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, according to the Tulsa Flyer. The parade begins at 3 p.m. at Cooper Elementary School, 1801 S. 123rd E. Ave., and travels through the Tulsa Global District to Hannah Hall, 1801 S. Garnett Road, where the festival starts at 4 p.m.

Admission is free.

The festival includes vendors, live music as part of the Levitt Block Series and the El Grito de Independencia presented by the Consulate of Mexico in Oklahoma City.

The Tulsa Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce hosts the 12th annual Festival Americas on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 4 to 10 p.m. at Guthrie Green, 111 E. Reconciliation Way, according to La Semana. The free festival celebrates the nations of the Americas with food, music and cultural entertainment.

TCCL programming extends past Oct. 15, with an author visit from Yuyi Morales for the 2026 Hummingbird Award in Literary Arts on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Martin Regional Library.
