The Tulsa Drillers hammered four home runs in a 10-1 rout of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Sept. 9, claiming their 85th win and setting a new franchise record.

No team in Minor League Baseball has won more games this season. The 85 victories are also the most by a Tulsa professional baseball team since the Triple-A Oilers won 95 games in the 1968 Pacific Coast League season, according to Drillers game notes.

The previous Drillers franchise record was 78 wins, shared by the 1998 and 2019 teams. This year's club blew past that mark weeks ago and has now won seven of its last eight games heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Logan Wagner led the attack with two home runs and three hits at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, Arkansas. It was his first multi-homer game and first three-hit game at the Double-A level. Wagner now has 22 home runs combined between High-A and Double-A this season.

Josue De Paula launched his 27th homer of the year in the first inning and now has 104 RBI and 106 runs scored. His 106 runs rank third in the Drillers' 49-season franchise history, and his 104 RBI are tied for third, per team records. Jake Gelof sits at 98 RBI, two away from joining De Paula at 100. The Drillers have never had two players reach 100 RBI in the same season.

Sean McLain added a solo shot in the seventh, his seventh of the year. Tulsa has now hit 193 home runs as a team, three shy of the franchise record of 196 set in 2022.

The pitching staff matched the offense. Starter Aidan Foeller worked 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits with a 1.57 ERA in 28 2/3 Double-A innings. Alex Walsh, who pitched at Jacksonville University before signing with the Dodgers in July, earned his first Double-A win in just his fourth professional appearance. Walsh retired all eight batters he faced, striking out three. Jacob Kmatz threw two scoreless innings, lowering his Drillers ERA to 1.53 with a 23-to-2 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 12 appearances.

De Paula's breakout season may have earned him a promotion. Fox Sports reported Thursday that the Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up the 21-year-old outfielder, who is ranked the No. 6 prospect in baseball. The Athletic reported that one Dodgers evaluator said De Paula has the organization's best pure hit tool since Corey Seager. De Paula hit .303 with a .948 OPS and 31 stolen bases this season, per The Athletic.

"I just show up every day, same approach. Just keep going by my work the same way. Nothing really changes," Gelof told the Tulsa World on Sept. 2, when the team reached its 80-win milestone. That approach has carried the Drillers to historic territory.

The Drillers continue their series against Northwest Arkansas at Arvest Ballpark on Sept. 10, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m. The Texas League playoffs begin Sept. 15 in Springfield, where Tulsa faces the Springfield Cardinals in the first round.
